Ive wanted to sew a quilt for so long now, so i recently took the plunge and purchased almost all my fabrics (apart from the base of the quilt)- erm.. HOW hard is it to pick fabric, thank god for pre cut packs. The plan is to make the quilt to put on the bed in our caravan, for when we go on weekends away and holidays.

I am starting to think that a queen sized quilt might be a little ambitious for my first ever quilting project, but its for the van, so i WONT give up.... I am thinking i will do a simple quilt, with the 5inch squares sewn together, possibly adding a plain fabric edge?

The Finished Dress

I signed up with a friend to a dress making class, it went every Monday for 8 weeks, last night was my final lesson - i picked an "easy" pattern, or so i thought! The dress took the full 8 weeks to finish, with a few changes along the way, like the belt was sewn on...then moved, as it was way to low, then more lace added, and over 30cm taken off the length ( yup... I'm that short) - here is the finished dress!!

Our "New" Van - Hundreds

Benj and I purchased a 16foot caravan last month (and Benj and my brother drove down to Victoria to pick her up; the poor buggers were on the road for around 24hours!!!) All we know about her is she is a "York" and "Pre 1988" So far we have replaced the back lights and had the wiring looked at, this was during the rego change over from VIC to NSW plates - a little adventure that cost us around $400. Inside she needs a bit of work, she has no beds, no lounge, no fridge and no oven - but she doesn't leak!! I have grand plans of home made green and white polka dot curtains, home made quilts and granny square crotchet pillow covers!!

We have been debating a name for her, because in my opinion every caravan should have a name!! I had a few names picked out, LouLou, Elsie, Betsy - (husband wasn't a fan of any of those), friends had suggested Bertha... too me she was too little and cute to be a Bertha! Benj suggested "Hundreds" ( cuz everything we do will cost hundreds) and i loved it immediately.... so she will now be known as Hundreds!

Obie was asleep last night when i made the PJ Pants, so i wasnt able to try them on him - when he woke this morning i got him to try them on - they fit and he loves them!

I have other fabric id like to make some in, that i picked up in Lincraft for $5.99 p/m, so now that the test pair have been done, ill be able to start with the real fabric.

Customise a birthday card! The card pictured will be going to the birthday boy shortly, but can be remade and in all sorts of colour combos, and any number can be added to the front! This one has been made on 100% recycled cardstock base, ( eco friendly) and patterned papers have been inked and scruffed up a little - stars had been handcut and rhinestones added for a bit of sparkle!

So i just sat here working out what i still need to do craft wise... and basically i shocked myself... This list doesn't include the day to day chores of being a wife, mother,working 2 jobs, and living in a house that requires renovating...

I have the following to do :- Finish a hoop for my MIL, a Hoop and Library Bag for Dakota, Handmade goodies for Bec and Kylie, Curtains for Obie's room, and the Master Bedroom and MORE hoops for the Dining Room wall -and stuff for my online store and submissions for publication.... LUCKILY i love creating!! ( also prepping for a 4 year old and 34 year old party on the same day...eeek)

Today while on my lunch break at work, i did my regular browsing of craft sites and blogs, and i came across a blog called Sew Delightful and was amazed at what i saw... They make dresses, scarves, pjs for girls in need all over the world-- so far they have donated 12,000 dresses to 35 countries all over the world, and this year they hope to reach a goal of 50,000 dresses!

They use a simple but lovely pillowcase dress pattern, that can be adorned with a pocket, a little lace or a vintage handkerchief to make the dresses a little more unique!

ATC's ( Artist Trading Cards)

I'm seriously addicted to making ATC's - i love that i can create a little bit of art, and swap it with other people all over the world! ATC's are miniature works of art about the same size as a baseball/football card or 2 ½ X 3 ½ inches. The ATC movement developed in Switzerland and are produced in various media, including dry media (pencils, pens, markers, etc.), wet media (watercolor, acrylic paints, etc.), paper media (in the form of collage, paper cuts, found objects, etc.) or even metals or cloth.

I have a Aussie based swap on Facebook you can find here this months theme is Romance - we currently have 5 artists signed up ( sign ups close today) so far, i cant wait to see what everyone comes up with.

As of Friday ( come on Friday...), Im on a weeks holiday from my "day job", ill be using this time to celebrate my 5 year wedding anniversary with my wonderful, patient, sweet and spunky hubby, we will also be taking our 3 year old to Taronga Zoo for the first time and also heading down to Floriade, i will also be using this time to give my online store an overhaul, a little bit of a spring clean. We recently decided on what type of "theme" we want to go for in the house (we moved in Jan 2009 and i just couldn't decide what look i wanted...) and i feel like i can finally move forward in all the Reno/decorating plans - we really need to remove cornices and replace them ( they are all cracking or had been damaged by previous occupants) and paint all walls and ceilings...

We have finally picked our dining table out, and put a deposit on it ( We have been using an old 70's Formica table and chairs that my mum re upholstered for us when we first moved in together 7+ years ago) so recently i have also been looking at what "art" id like to hang on the wall that will be seen from the kitchen and in the space our gorgeous dining table will go, and i keep coming back to Botanical Prints - i think a group of these clustered on the wall will look top notch!

Fathers Day Cards

Its Fathers Day next month here in Australia - so i have listed a couple of cards ( more will follow) in the store.

I have been super lucky, my wonderful hubby built me a massive scrappin' table! It sits right under the window in my sons old bedroom ( we moved him into the front room a few months back) and the natural light is FANTASTIC! He was also wonderful enough to put up a peg board so i can start displaying some of the product i use, NOW i just need to get him to build some 12x 12 paper storage, and shelving and a ribbon gutter thingy and ill be all set up!

Busy TEN days, since my last post

Hey guys,

Haven't really had much of a chance to update, spent the best part of last week at the hospital, after a 3 hour wait at our local medical centre; my 3 year old had an infection, and was admitted to the children's ward on the 21st, and stayed there until the 24th; so i had NO sleep and a sore backside from sitting on those horrid plastic chairs, by 3am Monday morning, i was standing up against the wall.

I couldn't believe that they people actually DAMAGE things in a children's ward ( or any hospital ward), what kind of person do you have to be, to break remotes for TVs? OR even slash open chairs? or break the knobs off the blinds, so you cant actually close it ?? When we were moving from the emergency ward up too the children's ward, one of the nurse's on duty said "we are so full, that we don't have enough chairs or even beds to go around, so we wont be able to give you a remote for the TV, as most are broken, and we have these really cool units donated by the Starlight Foundation, but people STOLE all the games that the children play... so the machines are basically useless.... pretty sad when you think of it.

I'm so thankful of the level of care he did get, the nurses in that ward are so patient, kind and even though they are understaffed, always had time to have a chat and put a smile on my son's face.

Over the weekend, we managed to create a new garden, and added some great Aussie Natives to the front yard, in hopes of covering up the disgusting excuse for a fence my neighbours have put up...we also concreted in our letter box; it had been screwed on top of a tree stump for months.

I also have hit 250 members over at my Facebook Fan Page for Studio S -- will be having a giveaway when we hit 300 :D

One of my goals for 2009, was to be published for the first time! I was starting to think that it was a lost goal, that id be trying to achieve in 2010... BUT i opened up my emails this morning and i found a letter from the editor at Cardmaking, Stamping and Papercraft, and she wants to send me a release form to sign, so they can publish work that i submitted!

Super exciting! It made my week and has got me all fired up to create some more.

Have spent the last hour putting the finishing touches on the chrissy cards that i will be listing over at my etsy store . The listing will be done over the weekend, they are multi packs; for better value.

Have a busy weekend ahead, apart from photographing and listing these cards ( plus a few lil non chrissy ones), i have the groomer coming tomorrow to clip and wash Charlie, hubby and I are taking Obie down the coast, IF it stops raining, we plan on taking a bunch of photos to use on the Christmas Cards i send out to family, then Sunday, we will probably head out and get some Christmas lights for decorating the front yard.

A weekend of Sewing

Just thought id share pics of the weekends efforts, we went to Ikea on Saturday and picked out a fabric we both liked, and then headed to Lincraft to get the calico.... Saturday afternoon/evening was spent pinning and cutting calico, and swearing at my sewing machine -- the sewing machine eventually started to behave, but by that time i was well over it.

Sunday was spent sewing and sewing and sewing and sewing, then some pinning and some more sewing -- Benj even helped pin the sides of the patterned fabric from Ikea ( it was raining out and he had nothing else to do, so he offered to help..such a good husband).

A long time tween Posts

Hi guys,

Just a quick message for today; have been busy working on cards for the store and a whole bunch of commissioned cards as well... so no time to really get down and do some much needed blogging.

This weekend i am heading to Ikea with Benj ( my hubby) and Obie ( my son) to pick up some hardware for the window finishes for our house... it has basically taken us 9 months to really decide what way we want to go, we both would love love love love to have Roman Blinds, but our windows are so large we need them custom made, and that means big bucks! After Ikea , we are heading to Lincraft to pick up material, then ill be getting out the sewing machine and stitching up a storm, while Benj and Obie tackle the removal of the hideous vertical blinds ( that are broken and have missing bits) and installing the new hardware. I'm not a great sewer, so my goal is to have at least the lounge room curtains made up for this weekend, and next weekend i can tackle my craft room, and the main bedroom; then that's all the windows done at the front of the house.

I have added a "Etsy Mini" to the blog, it automatically updates when a new card is added.. isn't that AWESOME?

Its been a while!

Its been close to a month since my last post, and im feeling a bit guilty!!! Although the last month has been pretty busy, my pal and i have been working hard to get an online store up and running on Etsy, grand opening is this coming Monday.

We also had a little road trip, and went down to Kaisercraft Outlet and the Chandon Craft Store in Geelong, Victoria -- did a lil shopping and alot of driving along the Great Ocean Road, stopped and checked out the 12 Apostles, Loch Ard Gorge and some other rocks -- was pretty amazing.

Then i went on a mini holiday with my hubby and my son, down the south coast, was great to just get away from the hustle and bustle and enjoy each others company.

As of Monday, i will only be posting snippets of cards, and all sales will be done through our Etsy Store.

This card was commissioned by Rebecca, for her daughters first birthday. Its a pocket style card, and the pink insert pulls out to be personalised. Its about 15cm high and 10cm wide. The Butterfly is white with silver and white glitter and has silver diamantes and a large diamante for the body. The lip of the card has been embossed with Swiss Dots then covered with pink mesh, white vintage lace and then covered with a pink sheer ribbon, the same pink ribbon has been used on the tag.

Yesterday i was lucky enough to spend the afternoon with a close buddy; we spent the afternoon chatting away and making cards; we laughed and gossiped more then we created, but we both ended up making 2 cards each, and I'm sharing my two with you now.

I have another card to share, and i hope you guys like it. Its 4 inches x 4inches black card stock base, with a pink vintage inspired floral card stock, with some paper flowers, ribbon, lace and a fibre mesh.

Ive had a productive Day

Today i managed to get 2 cards made, as well as start on 3 more! I was lucky enough to be woken at 6am by my 2 year old son, so the day started off at 7am with Scrambled Eggs for breaky, washed down with some Orange Juice. Then we got onto the chores! By 11am all the house work was done and i was able to sit down and play around with a new stamp that i picked up.

After playing around with it last night, i decided to make a small gift tag size card. I pulled out my cuttlebug and the swiss dots embossing folder, to make a simple yet sweet card. After doing this, i sent a MMS to show Hayley who promptly put her "order" in for a pink horse....

Hayley chose to do "Pride" as her second sin. The image has been hand sketched by Hayley -- and the mirror is actually reflective.. Very Cool!

The Reveal- Second Sin

For my second sin i choose "Gluttony". For this i used some text from 2 old books i picked up at a second hand store, the backing was a page ripped from a thesaurus, and i have blacked out all the other words apart from gluttony. The image is from an ATC pad and the top i have used white paper flowers, inked them with black ink then layered them with glue and tissue paper.

My Scrap Room-so far

Just thought i would upload some pics of the scrap room.. at the moment it looks a bit awful, as we haven't painted yet, and as soon as the painting gets done i will be having a nice long bench along the wall -- enough for 2 people to scrap with out getting in each others way.

I have been doing some research as to what kinda storage i want, and i think ill have some sort of cork/pin board and alot of shelving and alternate between clear jars and wicker baskets....

Week 2 ATC Swap - Autumn

Hayley decided on the theme for week 2 of March 2009, and she picked "Autumn" -- a great topic, and it gave me a chance to use some gorgeous lace, bronze glitz and some really funky skeleton leaves that Hayley gave me..

Hayley hasn't finished off her ATC yet, but she has received mine so i can post it up here, for showing.

The wording on my ATC: "Autumn is a second spring when every leaf is a flower" this is a quote i found online, i just wish i can remember who said it.

I will upload Hayley's creation as soon as i get it!

The Reveal

Well I'm back to upload the results of the first swap of March 2009 -- I chose "Pride" as my Sin and my partner Hayley chose "Sloth" as her sin.

The wording on Hayleys ATC : top right hand corner says "plump but has a good figure" and across the bottom of the ATC it says " what do you think i do all day? Sit around the house" .

The wording on My ATC : " I look as good as it gets I, am radiant And beautifully dressed a natural beauty and have a body to die for".

I think these cards are great, and we enjoyed this theme so much that we have decided to complete the rest of the sins, doing one every 2nd week of each month until the 7 are done.

Hayley chose "Autumn" for our 2nd swap in March 2009, i have already done mine and Hayley has received it so i will do a separate entry for that theme.

ATC Theme - 7 Deadly Sins!

The theme for the current ATC is 7 Deadly Sins, we had to choose one we liked the most and create a work of art. The 7 Deadly Sins are : Lust, Gluttony, Greed, Sloth, Wrath, Envy and Pride. I had a few Ideas for a couple of the sins, and i have ended up picking "Pride".

My partner and i swapped packs, that we made up for each other and we decided that the majority of the ATC had to be created using the swapped pack, I have decided to draw the main portion of this ATC and will be adding a few vintage elements to finish it off. I will post a couple of pictures after my partner has received the ATC... and will share the one i receive from my partner.

A New Blog

Yep, I'm starting a NEW blog, We have just purchased our first home and I've claimed the spare room for my "Craft Room".. so this blog will help keep a bit of a online record of the house and its occupants ( for the family/friends who cant just pop in every week) and help me to keep a bit of a record of what i get up to in my new craft room.
